Artist Statement
Color and texture are important elements of my work. I have to focus diligently and carefully select colors, then I scrub and blend these pigments into the support surface to build rich layers, being careful to place the colors so they react and vibrate against one another, creating the pulsating energy and texture that I strive for. When connected to the people, creatures and places I observe in my daily living, my paintings become the manifestations of a place where we should be every minute of our lives, a colorful swirling landscape of life, some of which are abstract, others figurative, they are a place where earthly beauty and our spiritual selves live.
